Tim Look, of FROZEN IN TIME Treasures,

spoke with the 16 attendees this morning about the estate sales operation that he started (as almost a courtesy) while he was in the floor covering business until it gradually took so much time and became a niche for his growing popularity and interest. It has led to his taking a course and being certified as an auctioneer and has expanded into an online aspect and some private collections sales. Although several payment structures exist in the field, Tim has opted for a simple percentage (35% of overall sales), and while specific collections or estates may be very valuable, the average (median) estate sale brings him $4000-6,000. This work and his President role with Burton Rotary (especially with their Senior Harvest Ball) keep him busy and involved with the community.

President Cindy Sullivan was back in her rightful position this morning, but Treasurer Jeff Dennings had his Crown delivered specially this morning by John Drumm and made extensive use of his regal powers to generate more money from the other members – including Joe Cozart for “eating before the King”, Mic Goulet for “picking on” Ken Cullen, Joe Farah for “luncheon meeting” arrival, and Greg Hilliker for nearly everything he could think of!

Jeff Dennings reminded us all of this evening’s Installation Banquet at Kathy’s 126 in Flushing, and he announced the November 15-16 Michigan District Convention in Auburn Hills.

Assistant Governor Bill Reaves proudly announced that all the clubs in our zone have compiled with the bylaw revision request from Optimist International, and that he will have some extra travel-related absences this year because of 8 new clubs assigned to his responsibility.

At the recent Flushing HarvestFest, Club members passed out approximately 27 dozen doughnuts, and many gallons of cider, to the enthusiastic and appreciative crowd of participants.

Jeff Gauger reported that 26 beds were assembled for Sleep in Heavenly Peace in the last week (including some new youth “builders”!) and that a milestone of 500 kids sleeping in new beds will be reached within the next few days!

Pres. Cindy plans to visit Davison Optimists on November 1  to check out their organization and collaborative planning for their Annual Camel Race, perhaps to compare and prepare for an additional fundraiser on this side of the county.

Pancake Breakfast with Signing Santa and Michigan School for the Deaf is scheduled for Wednesday, December 4 here at Liberty. Note that this date is on WEDNESDAY, and our usual Club gathering WILL NOT OCCUR on Thursday of that week. The list of names, ages, and interests will be (Note that the Club does not plan to reimburse Club members for the children’s Christmas gift purchases, but many or most members did not avail themselves of the reimbursement, anyway.)

Ken Cullen held the right number but drew the wrong card, so the “Progressive 50/50 Pot” is now worth over $1,000!

Until next time, “Promise Yourself…”
