- Karen Lorenc (in lower left of above photo, in front of President Rich Lewis) introduced our speakers, Leslie Beamer (in center) and Jamie Covill (far right) from Selah’s Red Tent, a Birth and Postpartum Doula House in downtown Flint. It is a relatively new group that seeks to fill an important need in the community, and which depends on donations and grants to fund its mission.
- Dan Crannie made his grand return today to bring our attendance to fourteen members! Dan looks good, feels well and is recovering nicely. He is back to work at a somewhat reduced pace until his recovery is complete. His arrival prompted an ovation – not quite a standing one, yet all were very glad to see him.
- Deb Hawley was present and gratefully accepted men’s clothing donations offered by members this morning. She stressed that the need is great for all resources (especially winter outerwear), so Gents, please check those closets for items to donate to the St. Francis Prayer Center and she can arrange to have it picked up.
- Jeff Gauger arranged SHP deliveries for this morning to include some of our members, resulting in eight more children in warm beds tonight. Total for the Flushing chapter is now in excess of 800 beds!
- Cindy Sullivan announced the dates for the Flushing Candlewalk. This will be December 4 and 5 and she will be looking for volunteers to staff our Hot Chocolate and Cider stand.
- Mic Goulet said that it is likely that our Club’s participation in Salvation Army Bellringers will be on Friday, December 5, so dig out the warm clothes and Santa suits to ring bells for a two hour shift.
- Jack Profitt circulated the list for the MSD “Breakfast with Santa”. Members are asked to select a child from the list and purchase from the specified/requested items. (Suggested expenditure is $30.) More to follow at future meetings.
Many thanks to Steve Schlott for notes on today’s gathering!
Until next time, “Promise Yourself…”
