Josh Hobson (in center of photo above, flanked by Monthly Speaker Chair Joe Cozart on left and Club President Rich Lewis on right) spoke with our 13 Club members attending this morning about his personal history: from his youthful experience of riding go-carts while growing up in Birch Run, he developed an interest in racing and became a champion driver, meeting a number of professional drivers, owners, and famous folk while accumulating trophies and experiences. He wrestled “to stay in condition for driving”, enjoys golf, and became friends with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in doing publicity campaigns and “Make-A-Wish” events. He interacted with several racers and shared his impressions of several of them, particularly noting those that were “real people” who valued and respected fans and admirers. This “newlywed” University of Michigan Business alum now owns SecureCom, a camera-based “high-tech” and analytic security business about which the Club generated many questions.
Joe Cozart led the group’s Pledge of Allegiance this morning and Jack Proffitt said prayer before breakfast.
Steve Schlott distributed several “birthday” and “best wishes” cards for signatures and mailing – Joe Cozart got one early (for his “big number” 60th birthday on the 21st) and graciously accepted the Club’s “musical”rendering of “Happy Birthday”!
Greg Hilliker reminded the Club of a concert next Friday, March 27, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, noting that several members had not opened their emails from the last newsletter, which has links to the music and musicians that will be featured.
“TailTwister” Jack Medemar returned from vacation and immediately fined all those who had not recently abandoned warm and wonderful weather in order to attend today’s meeting, Bill Reaves paid several fines for such infractions as late arrival and failure to wear his name badge, and “Queen” Cindy Sullivan tried to pass fines without messing up her hair with the Crown.
Jack Proffitt came close to winning the $848 prize in the “50/50 Progressive Pot” but couldn’t find the Queen of Diamonds.
Until next time, “Promise Yourself…”
