Greg Matheson, Flushing Area Senior Center Executive Director, being presented with one of our “collectors’ item” coffee mugs by President Bill Reaves after his presentation. The FASC has an abundance of programs, activities, trips, and exercise opportunities, as well as meals, tax completion support, and assistance in completing Medicare and legal paperwork. Greg passed out copies of the 14-page monthly publication outlining and describing the offerings, noting that any senior in the area can go to any Senior Centers and participate in their programming, usually without cost, and an average of 95 people come into the Flushing Center daily. Through mileages, grants, and donations, and advertising, the Center provides the plethora of selections, from fly-tying and woodworking to Pickleball and Mah Jongg, to area residents without membership fees (although donations and $12 “Member” cards are welcomed).
The 14 present levied a few fines in today’s meeting – for instance, a fine by Steve Schlott against Greg Hilliker for having is face displayed in “My City” magazine and a fine by Dan Crannie against anyone who had “logged 4,000 pushups today so far this year.” We were short on time, though, because we spent a lot of time listening to, questioning, and discussing another presentation today by…

She is a business owner and co-chair of the Flushing Summerfest, for which the Club will be sponsoring the beverage tent and providing volunteer service.
The theme this year is this
and, in addition to soliciting and generating sponsorship support, we will be setting up and taking down a tent, fences, tables and chairs, posting signs and banners for sponsors, selling wristbands, dispensing drinks, and cleaning up. During band concerts and corn hole tournaments, we anticipate generating some good support and good will for Optimist youth foci. Plan to help, especially on June 9-10.
