Lieutenant Governor Bill Reaves
was installed at this past weekend’s Optimist Convention and, serving also as our Club’s President, enthusiastically lined out a number of fundraising efforts and options that other clubs are using and that might generate vigor and ideas in our own area. Jeff Dennings is in a special position as “Marketing Chair” for the Michigan district and is also excited about opportunities for information and sharing to and from the Club in this new post.
Greg Hilliker paid a fine “for jumping the gun” and being too eager to wait for the Prez to open fines, Jack Proffitt fined anyone not wearing Optimist apparel, “King” Steve Schlott passed a fine against anyone not signed up for this past week’s 10-mile Run at the Crim Festival, Joe Farah fined Greg Hilliker for finding “too much pleasure” in Jeff Dennings’ easy dismissal of a generated idea after Jeff had talked about the need to be a welcoming and comfortable group.
Discussion degenerated into an entertaining discussion by members who represented opposing political preferences, ultimately culminating in a suggestion that the most prominent leaders of the political parties be housed in “adjacent cells”. (Push for a guest speaker, folks!)
Joe Farah reminded the Club that the 10 folks who signed up are invited to his home on Warwick Hills Trail in Grand Blanc for the Detroit Lions’ season opener “Game Watch”, gathering at 7:00 p.m. for food and “BYO” drink preferences. (The game will likely start at about 8:10.) Contact a member for his address.
JackProffitt won the ticket but not the “Progressive 50/50 Pot” that will be past the $1,000 mark next week!
Until next time, “Promise Yourself…”
