James Kitts with 4 of his MDM-TV “trainees”
Jim (wearing tie) is the “Executive Producer” of MDM-TV (link HERE), an educational venture in Montrose Schools preparing students for broadcast careers, giving them electronic, computer, video and audio recording/editing, public speaking, interview, investigational and other work and life skills alongside their public school assignments. Accompanied here by some of his youthful but highly talented broadcast team – (L-R) Jack, Rachel, Ivory, and Logan, Jim gave an overview and video/audio samples of their work. Composed, competent, confident, articulate, and hardworking, these youth were very impressive and inspiring in our Club conversation this morning and worthy of the recognition and awards that they have won. Whether they pursue journalism, broadcasting, or other fields as careers (as David Sackrider, former student in this program did), they certainly have great future options.
Member Jeff Gauger (wearing chandelier “crown” above) helped this month’s Program Chair Joe Cozart in arranging this week’s presentation and is standing in the photo above next to President Cindy Sullivan.
Jeff’s granddaughter, Gemma, is undergoing spinal stabilization surgery this coming Wednesday, and Steve Schlott brought and passed around a card for members to sign for her. Steve brought another card for birthday recognition of Karen Gasperosky (head of Sleep in Heavenly Peace/SHP).
Jeff G. announced a busy “Assembly Day” this Saturday, March 15, for 29 beds, with several members scheduled to help. (See below for photo documentation: one 6-member team assembled 5 beds in one home and Jeff took this shot and so is not seen, but the 4 members of Kettering fraternity “Beta Theta Pi” are shown with WFOC member Greg Hilliker; another team is shown with bunks they assembled, and our own WFOC member Steve Schlott in the center.)
FINES:
- Steve fined Scott Staley for failing to appear at the Staley-sponsored Paczki-eating contest in Flushing, to be paid for by Jeff Dennings. (Jeff sponsored Scott’s original membership, but Scott’s “King” status means that Scott is immune to fines.)
- Mic Goulet offered another fine for Jeff to pay, since Scott made no mention of WFOC in publicity about the event.
- Joe Cozart was charged with a fine for failing to figure out the complexity of his own bathroom,
- Ken Cullen charged the entire Club with failure to open the door for Prez Cindy this morning,
- Steve Schlott proposed (and also paid) fines relating to his strenuous “Chair Volleyball” participation, and
- Natalie Fox paid a fine by Mic for her “Social Media” proficiency.

- April 12 Bed Build at Flushing Moose Lodge on Elms Rd.
