Fourteen members witnessed the installation of new member Tom Yeager by his sponsor (and new “King”) Matt Strnad and Club President Rich Lewis this morning (see photo above). Fines began immediately thereafter, with Mic Goulet noting that Tom had “been a member for 3 & ½ minutes and had done nothing to promote world accord.”
While Matt had everyone’s attention, he took the opportunity to announce his son’s campaign to raise $250 for Dimes for Diapers. (Obviously, the young man is “a chip off the old block”.) Matt made good use of his newly-acquired headgear and levied fines against Jeff Dennings for “being late with a flimsy excuse” and Cindy Sullivan “just because”. Phil Holmblade returned from his Arizona stay and paid fines “for not paying fines for 2 months”.
The Club discussed the prospect of assembling a team for the upcoming CANUSA fundraiser, and it looks like we have enough interest to put together 2 foursomes!
Cindy’s granddaughter did well in her Tennessee volleyball competition and Cindy has already announced her intent to go watch more of her games but she will not do this before she & Rich rally some tent sponsors for the SummerFest. Possible additional fundraising options (trivia? football squares?) are under consideration for this period, as well.
Jeff Gauger is out of town with a team of Sleep in Heavenly Peace volunteers for the National 24-hour Build, and Greg Hilliker read some of the impressive numbers associated with this work (see photos below). Two from the team were injured (thanks heaven, not too seriously!) in a car accident on their way back to our area, but they bring back much useful knowledge and a semi loaded with 100 beds and mattresses for the kids in our communities.
A Board Meeting is scheduled for May 11 (via Zoom).
Over $1K now sits in our “50/50 Progressive Pot” for the person who draws the lucky ticket and the elusive Queen of Diamonds!
Until next time, “Promise Yourself…”
