Tom Yeager (on left in above photo with Club President Rich Lewis), Branch Manager of Huntington National Bank in Flushing, came as Cindy Sullivan’s guest today to speak with us about his family, career path, and local mission at his relatively new job in town a s “coach” to his staff. He sees himself, soliciting and incorporating ideas and input from his bank employees and seems to be committed to forming a cohesive and collegial group. With experience in business (Creative Property Care) and sales (LaFontaine), he sees himself as someone able to understand the pressures of arranging business and big-ticket purchases responsibly in a changing economic environment, while maintaining healthy priorities and commitment to community.
Mic Goulet is this month’s Speaker Chair and announced the speakers for the next couple weeks, and Joe Cozart is lining people up for March and will entertain suggestions from the audience.
The dozen members present this morning recoiled in horror this morning as the usually quieter Steve Schlott proposed a pre-emptive fine against all those who “did not get or did not heed” the memo advising them to wear pink shirts to this morning’s meeting, citing “THE COMMITTEE” as the source and the only course of appeal.
“King” Jeff Dennings, in a feisty mood because of the impending threat to his crown, fined Cindy Sullivan for “failing to respect his ‘AU-THOR-I-TAY’” and accused the Club more generally of a “mutiny”, noting no need to adjust his preferred dress on the whims of “THE COMMITTEE”.
Mic Goulet suggested that Jeff seemed to be “a square peg in a round hole” this morning, prompting more fining.
Steve Schlott also updated us on our friend John Losinski , and he noted that a card (“Get-Well”, not “Sympathy”) has been sent to Janet Russell (Greg Hilliker’s wife) after her hospitalization.
Jeff Gauger reminded us of date (February 28), location (Signs by Crannie), sponsors (area Rotary Clubs) and goal (65 beds) for the next Sleep in Heavenly Peace “Build Day”. He also talked about a National Build to occur in North Carolina in April, which is already going to generate at least 100 more beds for our local chapter.
Joe Cozart bought the “lucky” ticket for the $672 “50/50 Progressive Pot” and drew a Diamond from the remaining cards, but the 10 rather than the Queen. (All together now – sigh “AWWW!”)
Until next time, “Promise Yourself…”
