For this first official breakfast gathering of 2026, “Yours truly” slept in until 7:07 a.m. after missing a whole night of sleep on Tuesday (prep for a videotaped and anesthetized “body invasion”) and was fined by Jeff Dennings for a late arrival at today’s breakfast. A retaliatory fine should have been levied against anyone who had not lost 6# in the last two days! (Thanks, Steve Schlott, for covering me with recording the discussion before I arrived.)
Cindy and Tim Sullivan, along with Jack Proffitt, led in a discussion of this “Elvis Presley’s Birthday” with a recounting of “The King’s” prolific film and recording career, expensive but memorable tributes and “shrines” (Graceland, etc.), military career, and evaluations of his talent.
Jeff Gauger, Steve Schlott, and other Club members discussed recent Sleep in Heavenly Peace “Assembly/Delivery” activities, reporting the current state and locations of stored beds/bedding, and celebrating Jana Reed’s recent participation and support (noting that she also has changed positions at work– see photo below).
Steve told an interesting story that ended with the punchline of “This is what happens when you stop drinking and fishing.” We all laughed and groaned at the appropriate spot!
